Melissa Trevathan, MRE

Melissa had been dreaming up a sort of second home for kids where they could feel safe to talk ever since she could remember, but Daystar officially opened its doors in 1985. Melissa has been its beloved leader ever since casting the vision & growing the ministry. With a background in youth ministry & teaching, as well as a counseling degree from Southern Baptist Seminary, Melissa wears many hats. Today she continues to act as the founder, senior director, bible study teacher, author & speaker. Each summer, she opens her private home on the lake to kids at what is affectionately named "Hopetown." She couldn't do any of this without her golden mountain doodle sidekick, Happy Meal.
