Group Counseling

Spring Semester of Group Counseling runs Monday January 27 - Thursday May 8, 2025.

Groups have a unique purpose at Daystar—in the midst of busy schedules, group is an important weekly pause for kids. Group therapy creates space for connection and conversations that encourage kids to look inward. From social skills to academic and social pressures to family dynamics, kids are invited to process the things with which they struggle. But we also want kids to look outward with intention and purpose as they see beyond themselves and learn to empathize and connect with others.

Counseling groups are organized by grade or age, providing opportunity for children and adolescents to share their experiences in a safe and confidential setting.

To participate in group, your child must be a client at Daystar and referred by their counselor to participate. If you think group could be beneficial for your child, please discuss with your child's counselor.

  • If case of inclement weather, group cancellations will be posted on this page and on Daystar's social media. We typically follow Metro School weather related closing. Groups will continue as normal if not otherwise noted here.

  • We ask that you and your student commit to regular attendance for a semester as spots are limited. Billing will reflect this commitment with group tuition being billed per semester rather than week-to-week.

  • Groups break for Metro Fall Break (Oct 7-11), Halloween, the Wednesday & Thursday of Thanksgiving, MLK, President’s Day, Metro Spring Break (Mar 10-14.)

  • Drop Off & Pick Up: It is imperative you drop off + pick up your child on time for group. Each of our counselors have scheduled appointments before + after groups and there is no one available to supervise children outside of the group session. Drop offs and pick ups will either be at the Front Entrance of Daystar or Lower Parking Lot on West Iris.

“We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard—God’s glory, God’s voice… You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the DAYSTAR in your hearts.” 2 Peter 1:19, The Message
